Publishers including Slate and The New Yorker are ending deals with Taboola and Outbrain, the content recommendation companies that placed sponsored links at the bottom of their pages. “It is not the right look if you’re trying to say you’re a high-quality, upper-tier website — if you have something like this on it — and I think it’s time for us to be honest about that,” Slate president Keith Hernandez told The New York Times.
